Updates to the shopping cart software I use totally broke the site. Unfortunately, this seems to happen every time they come out with an update. So, I was forced to redo everything. With the exception of a few minor bugs, I have most everything working. Now I just have to finish styling the theme. This time I am going to use a white theme as I think it’s easier on the eyes. Let me know what you think of the site.

Also, keep an eye on my available page. I have many VERY nice boas I will be listing as soon as the site is complete. These animals are top notch and will be sold at great prices.

Captive Bred Boas and Ball Pythons

Then the other day I asked him to create a 136 x 100 banner for me. He asked for my logo and what I wanted the banner to say. All I said was I wanted it to show that I do boas and ball pythons. I wasn’t sure what could be done in such a small space. This is what he came up with:

It has a reptile forum and a nice classifieds section. I don’t know if it will change in the future, but the classifieds are free. Once more people learn about this site, I think the classifieds section will be a great way for reptile enthusiasts to buy and sell their animals.

The forums are a great place to discuss or showoff your ball pythons, boa constrictors, and other reptiles. It is still a relatively new forum, so the traffic is low. Once the word gets out, I am sure it will be hopping.

I was feeding FRM 15%. The 15% formula is a special order product a local feed store here always has on hand. The price is great. Only $11.50 or so a bag. Great price or not, I was not producing rats or mice. Normally during the winter months, I am able to feed my animals and fill the freezer for the upcoming year. This winter, I barely had enough rodents to feed my ball pythons, let alone my boas and fill the freezer.

A few weeks ago, I was told about another local feed store that sells Mazuri 6F rodent feed for $16.50 a bag. That is a great price compared to other feed stores here.

So, a month or so ago, I switched to Mazuri. It took a few weeks of course, but my rodent production is off the charts. Unfortunately, winter is over and it is getting HOT here in Florida. The heat will cause my production to slow, but I am sure it will still be better than I was getting when using FRM 15%.

My son, who is 16, shipped his first box out by himself.

He has really gotten into spiders and scorpions lately. His scorpion had babies a few weeks ago. He has already sold or traded all of them. Today he shipped out five baby scorpions. He did all the research on how to pack and ship them all by himself. I thought that was pretty cool.

What I was surprised about is how he moved them. He did it just by posting videos on his YouTube page.

I need to buy a new video camera. Ours broke. He has been using his phone and now the web cam on our laptop.

We were looking for a nice Argentine Black and White hatchling. Well, we finally got one! We ended up with a really nice hybrid. He’s an Argentine Black and White / Red cross. I say “he”, but I’m not sure of the sex yet. I’ll get the probes out this weekend and find out. We’re hoping it’s a boy. Either way, it’s a keeper.

For now, the little guy will live in a big screen cage on our lanai. He’ll get plenty of Florida sunlight along with the proper humidity that he needs. When he gets larger, we’ll build a nice outdoor pen for him to live in.

This kid will be fun to watch grow!

My website host recently upgraded their web servers. When they did this, my site broke. After a few weeks of troubleshooting and having others look at the problem, I gave up. I found a new shopping cart called WP e-Commerce. It took some time, but it’s installed and seems to be working great.

The next step is to start adding animals to the site. We’ve had a pretty good year so far and have a lot of animals that will be available soon. I’m especially excited about our boa litters this year. Within the next few days, I’ll start posting pictures of the babies.
