Captive Bred Reptiles
Over the next few weeks we’ll be adding many boas to our available list. We like our babies to have at least five or six meals in them before making them available. Here is a list of boas we will have for sale over the next few weeks:
I was taking pictures last night of boas I’m going to list for sale. I have a couple orange tail hypo boas from last year that I have been watching mature and trying to decide whether to keep or not. This female is turning out real nice. I love the big saddles on her tail. She may just have to stay here.
I start my baby boas and ball pythons in 6qt shoebox tubs. I’ve always had a problem with the snake spilling their water bowls. Recently, Clay English told me about a style of deli cup that he uses. I ordered two cases and absolutely love them. I have over a hundred baby boas and some baby ball pythons all using these cups now. Not one spilt water bowl. Not one. The cups are just tall enough that they cannot be flipped over.

Once my babies outgrow the 6qt shoebox tub, I move them to a 15qt. I have two styles of the 15qt tub. One is the Iris STC-410 and the other is the Sterilite 1754. The deli cups work in the Iris 15qt tub too. However, the Sterilite 1754 is a taller tub. Therefore, for these I use heavyweight crock dishes.
Our first ball python clutch of the season hatched. This was a Pied x Normal breeding. Bad odds though. All six babies are male. 
Oh well… We still have a few more HET Pied clutches yet to hatch. I can’t complain anyway. These babies are all healthy and beautiful.
Yesterday was a good day. I came home from work to find that Marge had her babies. This was a Dubay Line Orangetail Hypo boa x Salmon Jungle boa breeding. I haven’t pulled the babies yet, so I’m not sure what the count is. I do know that there are a lot of Jungles. I’ll be keeping a few from this litter that’s for sure!
Once the babies start moving around, I will pull them and get a count. Here are some pictures of the litter.
This is Marge. She is a Dubay Line Orangetail Hypo boa. As you can see, she is HUGE. Actually, the pictures in no way show how stuffed she really is. She still has about 2 weeks left. I can’t wait!!! She was bred with a really nice salmon jungle boa.
This is the same girl that produced my arabesque litter last year. She is twice as big as she was with that litter. Maybe twice the babies?
I was so happy with the babies she had last year. The color she passed on was amazing. With each shed those babies keep getting better. These babies should be even better!
Have you ever visited a website and wondered why people put numbers in front of an animal name or species? Well, those numbers tell the sex of the animal.
For example:
1.0 Albino Boa = one male boa
0.2 Bearded Dragons = two female dragons
0.0.1 Ball Python = one ball python sex unknown
3.2.1 Leopard Geckos = three male, two female, one sex unknown
We had some ups and downs this boa breeding season. We were really bummed out with the results of a few litters, but really excited and happy with the others. We have one more female left to drop. This is the girl that produced the hypo arabesque babies last year. These should be some insane salmon jungle babies!

Well, that’s it for this year. I did have a few other parings, but they didn’t take. Maybe this coming season.

Unfortunately, my site has been down for the last few weeks. My website host recently upgraded their web servers. When they did this, my site broke. After a few weeks of troubleshooting and having others look at the problem, I gave up. I found a new shopping cart called WP e-Commerce. It took some time, but it’s installed and seems to be working great.
The next step is to start adding animals to the site. We’ve had a pretty good year so far and have a lot of animals that will be available soon. I’m especially excited about our boa litters this year. Within the next few days, I’ll start posting pictures of the babies.
